2007 Chase the King – September 15th, 2007

Before discussing the results, Chess for Schools would like to say thank you to all the students, parents and volunteers who made this tournament a success.

This tournament was rated by the United States Chess Federation (USCF). This means, the USCF uses the results of each game to provide each participant an estimated ability level. Ratings change often for school aged participants and are not good predictors for the outcome of a game between opponents; nonetheless, they are useful in the organization and scoring for a tournament.

The USCF also publishes what is known as a “cross table”. The cross table indicates who each participant played and the outcome of that specific game. The cross table will show the new participant rating directly underneath the name of the participant and to the right of the participants USCF ID number. In this example “19619274 / R:  173   -> 231”, the member 19619274 started the tournament with a rating of 173 and completed the tournament with a rating of 231.
